Ashish Bhardwaj received the B.Sc. (Hons) and M.Sc. degrees in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India, in 1994 and 1996 respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in Applied Physics from the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena in 2001. He then joined Bell Laboratories, Lucent Technologies, at the Crawford Hill Labs in Holmdel, NJ as a Member of Technical Staff. There he studied fast wavelength switching in tunable lasers for applications in optical packet switching. He also led research in the design, fabrication and characterization of large-scale monolithically integrated Indium Phosphide based Photonic Integrated Circuits employing Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers. In 2007, he joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara as a Senior Research Scientist, where his research is focused on monolithically integrated injection locked semiconductor lasers. Recent
