There are many other hotels in the Santa Barbara area; use your favorite travel web site to find them. Note that most hotels cater to vacationers rather than business travelers, and that September is in the busy summer season. Consequently, hotels will fill up and rates will increase substatially as the workshop draws closer. (The rates listed on this page were the lowest available rates on July 20.)
If you use a map site such as Mapquest or Google Maps to find the directions from your hotel to campus, use 553 University Rd, Santa Barbara, CA 93106 as the destination address. (Note that this is not the address of the building the workshop is in; buildings on campus do not have street addresses. See the transportation page for maps and directions.)
The UCSB campus is located right next to the Santa Barbara airport, so if your hotel has an airport shuttle, the shuttle driver may be willing to drop you off and pick you up on campus. In particular, the Best Western shuttle will pick up and drop off on campus, whereas the Holiday Inn shuttle will not.
