Transportation

Santa Barbara Airport (SBA) is located right next to the UCSB campus. The airport is serviced by America West, American Airlines, Delta, Horizon Air, and United. There are direct connections to Dallas/Ft Worth (DFW), Denver (DEN), Las Vegas (LAS), Los Angeles (LAX), Phoenix (PHX), Portland (PDX), Salt Lake City (SLC), San Francisco (SFO), San Jose (SJC), and Seattle (SEA).

The Burbank (BUR) and Los Angeles International (LAX) airports are approximately 90 minutes away by car. (This assumes optimal traffic conditions---an unrealistic assumption, especially Friday afternoon and early evening, so allow extra time if you are leaving right after the workshop.)

The Amtrak train service is limited and not recommended for transfer to and from Los Angeles airports, as Union Station in Los Angeles is nowhere near the airports. Instead we recommend renting a car or taking the Santa Barbara Airbus.

If you arrive by car from the south, continue on the 101 freeway for approximately 10 miles after passing downtown Santa Barbara. Take the Ward Memorial Blvd./CA-217S exit toward Airport/UCSB. The 217 freeway takes you directly to the UCSB campus through the east gate.

If you arrive by car from the north (on the 101 freeway), take the Glen Annie Rd./Storke Rd. exit. Turn right onto Storke Rd. At the fourth traffic light, turn left onto Collego Rd., which takes you to the UCSB campus.
