Projects Info:

Welcome to the EE Capstone Projects Page (click here to return to the EE Capstone Home Page)!  There are a number of exciting EE Capstone projects to choose from during the 2017-2018 academic year.  Several of the projects are multidisciplinary projects, in which an EE team will be paired with teams from ME and/or CE.  Each project is sponsored either by a research group at UCSB or by one of our industry partners.  Each student group is made up of 3-5 students.  While groups are independently responsible for working on and completing their projects, each group is assigned a mentor, typically from the group which is sponsoring the project, to provide technical guidance and assistance.  Student groups work on their projects throughout the entire 2017-2018 academic year, and then present their work at the 2018 College of Engineering Design Showcase on June 8, 2018.  Available 2017-2018 EE Capstone Projects are described below:

 

 

Project Descriptions:

 

1.  Sponsor: Apeel Sciences

Project: Automated Analysis of the Quality of Avocados. Click here to view detailed description.

Mentors: Matthew Gaudioso, Matthew Aaronson, Louis Perez, various other Apeel scientists

Notes:   Open to a team of 3-5 ECE students. This project will rely on machine learning and image processing techniques, students must take ECE 178 and/or ECE 181B (can be taken concurrently with ECE 188).

 

 

2.  Sponsor: Arthrex

Notes:   Each Arthrex project is open to a team of 3-5 ECE students. These projects will rely on machine learning and/or image processing techniques, students must take ECE 178 and/or ECE 181B (can be taken concurrently with ECE 188).

Notes: This is a multidisciplinary project open to 3-4 EE’s and 4-5 ME’s.

Notes: Project #1 is a multidisciplinary project open to 4-5 EE’s, 4-5 CE’s, and 4-5 ME’s. Project #2 is open to a group of 3-5 EE students.

Notes: Open to a team of 4-6 ECE students (possibly a mix of EE and CE students).

 

 

6.  UCSB Hyperloop

Project: Pod for 2018 SpaceX Hyperloop Competition.

Mentors: Various UCSB engineering faculty, industry partners, and SpaceX engineers

Notes: Team already assembled.
