OUTLINE

Modulation: complex baseband representation, modulation degrees of freedom, basic forms of modulation

Demodulation: Optimal receiver design and performance analysis for coherent communication over the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel; elements of noncoherent communication

Channel Equalization: maximum likelihood sequence estimation; linear equalization; decision feedback equalization

Synchronization (if time permits): elements of parameter estimation, application to basic synchronization problems.
