Steve Koppenjan
Steven Koppenjan received his Masters degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1989.  He also received his BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering at UC Santa Barbara in 1986.  He has conducted research with subsurface radar since joining the Bechtel Nevada/Special Technologies Laboratory (previously EG&G) in 1986.  He has been the principal investigator in the design and development of several ground penetrating radars and been involved with extensive field tests.  His present position is Senior Radar Systems Engineer, with responsibility for system development and project management from the concept stage to field testing and final delivery.  He is also a “visiting” researcher at UCSB assisting in the image processing laboratory with techniques applied to GPR.

Steven Koppenjan was the General Chair of GPR 2002 and the guest editor for the Journal of Environmental and Engineering Geophysics–Special GPR Issue, June 2003. Most recently, he chaired a session on “Radar Systems” at the Ninth International Conference on Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR 2004), Delft, The Netherlands. His latest paper, "Advanced Signal Analysis for Forensic Applications of Ground Penetrating Radar " was presented at GPR 2004. He will also be a co-author on a new book: “GPR Theory and Applications” (to be published in late 2004).
