Electrical & Computer Engineering Mission Statement

The Electrical Engineering program seeks to provide a comprehensive, rigorous and accredited educational program for the graduates of California’s high schools and for postgraduate students, both domestic and international. The department has a dual mission in education and research.

The Electrical Engineering B.S. program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, 111 Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, MD 21202-4012 – telephone: (410) 347-7700.



Degree Requirements

In order to receive a degree from UCSB, students must satisfy three sets of requirements:
 
  Major Requirements
  Coursework: College of Engineering 2009-2010 "Announcement" (pdf): Edited version with only ECE course descriptions and requirements.
    - CoE 2009-2010 "Announcement: Full version with information about all depts and areas.
    - ECE Course Offerings: Current course information and announcements.
    - ECE Course Schedules, Syllabi and Web pages : Current undergraduate and graduate course schedules, locations, syllabi and websites.
Yearly Progress Checks - Freshman, sophomore, and junior year students must visit the ECE Student Office to review their yearly progress with the ECE Undergraduate Advisor.
Junior Year Elective Study Plan - All students in their junior year must complete and submit an elective study plan (Senior Elective Sheet). Each year in early October, there will be a mandatory Junior Meeting to explain more about the elective study plan. All EE Sr. Elective Sheets (pdf) or CE Sr. Elective Sheets (pdf) must be turned in to the ECE Student Affairs Office (Trailer 380, Rm 101) by the end of the junior year or enrollment will be blocked.

Student Advising

Student advising in the ECE Department is a three-tiered system consisting of a faculty advisor, an ECE Undergraduate Advisor, and a College of Engineering Advisor:
 
Faculty Advisor - helps with the content level of course materials, recommendations, and planning and additional information like research opportunities and graduate school questions.
 
Electrical Engineering Faculty Advisors: are assigned by the first letter of a student's last name.
