An overview of systems research activities in photonics and networking at Telcordia’s Applied Research Laboratories in Red Bank, New Jersey will be presented. Topics include coherent optical filtering for RF applications, securing optical networks at the physical layer, and optical networking concepts for both wide area and avionic platform use. Finally, as an industrial partner in the UCSB-led PICO (Photonic Integration for Coherent Optics) Center, collaborative research directions will be described.

Ted K. Woodward, Ph.D. is a Chief Scientist in the Applied Research division of Telcordia Technologies, Inc. He has an extensive record of research, innovation, and entrepreneurship in diverse fields including semiconductor electronic and optoelectronic devices, full custom integrated circuit design, and the development and deployment of commercial DWDM optical communication systems.
