Simone Tommaso Šuran Brunelli is originally from Rovinj (Croatia) and moved to Italy where he received his bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering with a thesis on semiconductor quantum dots, and a master degree in Materials Engineering with a thesis focused on atomic layer deposition, both at the Università degli Studi di Trieste. After a fellowship at Elettra Sincrotrone working on carbon nanotube synthesis and photoelectron spectroscopy he joined the iPL at UCSB as a Ph.D. student. His current interests and duties revolve around metal organic chemical vapor deposition of III-V semiconductors for nanoelectronic and photonic applications including low-power tunneling transistors.
