Projects Info:

Welcome to the EE Capstone Projects Page (click here to return to the EE Capstone Home Page)!  There are a number of exciting EE Capstone projects to choose from during the 2019-2020 academic year.  Several of the projects are multidisciplinary projects, in which an EE team will be paired with teams from ME and/or CE.  Each project is sponsored either by a research group at UCSB or by one of our industry partners.  Each student group is typically made up of 4-5 students.  While groups are independently responsible for working on and completing their projects, each group is assigned a mentor, typically from the group which is sponsoring the project, to provide technical guidance and assistance.  Student groups work on their projects throughout the entire 2019-2020 academic year, and then present their work at the 2020 College of Engineering Engineering Design Expo on June 5, 2020.  Available 2019-2020 EE and Multidisciplinary Capstone Projects are described below:

 

 

Project Descriptions - Industry Partner Projects:

 

 

1.  Sponsor: Electro Optical Industries

Project: IR Reference for Handheld Thermometers. Relevant coursework: ECE 137, ECE 142, ECE 152A, ECE 153B.

Mentors: Stephen Scopatz, various other EOI engineers

Notes:  Open to a team of 4-5 ECE students.

 

 

2.  Sponsor: FLIR

Project #1: Thermal-Aided Autonomous Food Delivery Robot. Relevant coursework: ECE 130, ECE 142, ECE 147, ECE 152A, ECE 153AB, ECE 178, ECE 179, ECE 181.

Project #2: Super Radiometric IR Camera. Relevant coursework: ECE 130, ECE 142, ECE 148, ECE 152A, ECE 153B, ECE 178.

Mentors: Marcel Tremblay, Sean Tauber, Per Elmfors

Notes: Project #1 is a multidisciplinary project open to 4-5 EE’s, 4-5 CE’s, and 4-5 ME’s. Project #2 is open to a group of 4-5 ECE students.
