"NTT Activities on Photonic Integrated Devices for High-Speed Communications"

Photonic integration technology is the key to reduce the size, cost, and improve the performance of the devices. In this talk, recent progress at NTT laboratory on the integration of devices for high-speed communications such as coherent transmission and packet switching is reviewed. Results on the integrated devices such as complex modulators, receivers and transmitters using the integration platforms of silica-based planar lightwave circuit (PLC) and the InP-based photonic integrated circuit (PIC) are presented.

About Dr. Yoshiyuki Doi:

Dr. Doi is a Senior Research Engineer, Photonics Integration Laboratory, NTT Photonics Laboratories. He received the B.S. and M.S. in physics, and Ph.D. in material science from Shinshu University, Nagano, Japan, in 1995, 1997 and 2007, respectively. In 1997, he joined NTT Laboratories, where he has since been engaged in research on photonic devices for fiber-optics and microwave photonics. He is currently interested in R&D of hybrid integration technology on silica-based PLC such as ROADMs and optical modulators. He is a member of IEEE.
