Planar external cavity (PLANEX) lasers combine high performance, similar to fiber/solid state lasers, with the small size, stability and high-reliability of diode lasers. Low phase/frequency noise and RIN enable distributed acoustic sensing and other fiber optic and free space sensing and metrology requirements. We will present PLC waveguide Bragg grating technology, PLANEX laser structure, cavity hybrid integration and performance, applications examples.

About Lew Stolpner :

Lew Stolpner has more than 30 years of R&D, product engineering, business development and business management experience in the optoelectronics development and commercialization of the advanced products and technologies. Over the past 8 years with Redfern Integrated Optics, he led technology development and business development of novel narrow linewidth lasers for optical sensing and metrology. He has 6 patents and multiple publications. Previously co-founder of K2Optronics (hybrid laser company, acquired by EMCORE), Director of Engineering at Tyco/AMP, also worked at engineering and management positions at PhotoVac Technology, DuPont de Nemours. He graduated from Vilnius University, Lithuania.
