The HRL Fellowship award is provided for up to 3 years with the possibility of a 4th-year renewal.  HRL recognizes ECE researchers who demonstrate commitment to broadening skills and values those contributions as part of continued professional growth.

Bloom earned his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Irvine in 2018. He received his M.S. degree in Electronics and Photonics at the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2020. Since he graduated from his M.S., Zack has been employed at HRL, focusing on test and characterization of quantum electronic devices. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at UCSB, under the supervision of Professor Buckwalter with an interest in mm-wave IC design and the intersection of electronics/photonics.
